In an effort to control smuggling, drug trafficking and illegal
fishing in our country, Taiwan's Ministry of Finance formulated
and approved of the Directorate General of Customs to build four
600 ton high-speed patrol vessels. Ching Fu quickly realized that
only the best design in the world could adequately realize this
project. Thus, Ching Fu formed an alliance with the world renowned
German Shipbuilding Company, Lurssen.
The resulting 600 Ton patrol vessels were developed from Lurssen's
FDB62 and CM 65 designs. These ships are not only registered by
China Registry but also comply with Lloyd's Classification Society
SSC (Special Service Craft) rules.
In order to fully assess the capability of this vessel's design
and test its lines, a tank test was done in England's Royal Navy
Tank. These vessels were also built using an imported thin plate
welding technology. Due to the extremely precise quality control
exercised throughout the entire shipbuilding process, during sea
trial these patrol vessels were able to reach the speed of 31 knots.
These vessels were recorded in the prestigious world's navies reference
manual, Jane's Fighting Ships. This newest achievement demonstrates
how Ching Fu Shipbuilding has once again successfully entered a
brand new shipbuilding market.
