| Ching Fu's first new shipbuilding
opened a new era in Taiwan's private shipbuilding industry. The vessel,
a 6000 DWT Oil/Product Tanker was the first mid-sized merchant vessel
ever constructed by a private shipyard in Taiwan. The "Hong Lee"
has a cargo discharging system which allows her to discharge oil in
different ship conditions such as berth alongside as well as on the
high seas. In addition, her engine room has unmanned capability. Furthermore,
the division of cargo tanks is designed so that the "Hong Lee"
can handle the full segregation of three grades of cargo simultaneously.
She was delivered in November 1991 and transports fuel oil, produced
by Chinese Petroleum Corporation (CPC) to ports around Taiwan. |
